Analyzing The Yellow Wallpaper â€Å"The Yellow Wallpaper† by Charlotte Perkins Gilman is a story about a woman who had a nervous breakdown. It’s all started when the narrator s and her husband John rented a nice house that they could afford. The narrator s husband â€Å"ordered† the narrator to pick a nice large, airy room on the top floor for the two of them, although she preferred the smaller, prettier room on the ground floor. The narrator didn’t like the bedroom that her husband picked, she had to obey his order, though because he is a man and a doctor. No the narrator stuck in a bedroom that she doesn’t like with disturbing yellow wallpaper with formless pattern, she describes it as â€Å"revolting.† Her husband orders didn’t stop here, he forced her to stop writing. After being controlled by her husband, she started seeing a woman that is trapped within the wallpaper. Shortly before leaving the home, the narrator started peeling off the wallpaper to free the women inside. The minute her husband arrived in the bedroom, she told him that she is finally free, then she started creeping around which left John unconscious. Clarities Essay The Clarities I choose the word clarity for this OED Essay. It seemed to fit rather well and piqued my interest as well. After reading the poem, I began to wonder what different meanings there were for this word. The author could have intended a less obvious meaning for the word clarities. So I decided to look it up. There were several definitions listed. One of which was brightness, lustre, brilliancy, splendour. I thought this definition was really interesting, because it wasnt the one I thought of orginally, and yet it was still the first one listed. It also was interesting because, considering what the poem is about, it adds a new light or tone to the poem. It adds a new way to describe love. It says how brilliant love is. This is also interesting because most historically this was the accepted definition of this word. Over the years the word must have changed meanings slightly. In that time the word was also used to mean clear, as in: the water is clear. Only more recently was it seen as clear meaning: clearness of thinking. This definition of this word became obsolete in the sixteenth century. The word than came to its present spelling. This spelling almost became obsolete in the seventeenth century, but was revived more recently. Other definitions of clarity have been light in the literal sense. Clarity was used briefly around the 1650s to mean light referring to the sun. Another definition was glory and divine lustre. This definition was more permanent. It was used from the 1300s through the 1600s. This definition however has not been used in recent times. There also was one other definition other than the one accepted today. This definition was illustrious quality; lustre of renown. This is also an interesting definition to apply to this poem. The thought of love as being renown sheds new light. If one were to go through this poem with that definition in mind it would probably turn out to be a very different poem. The last and final definition is the one that still stands today. Clearness is now what we uses clarity to mean. We can use it to mean clarity of mind or clarity can involve seeing something. This definition of this word has been in use since the early 1600s and it still holds today. This is the longest standing use of this word. It will be interesting to see if this word continues to change meaning.

Being a sequel and having already gained an audience, the producers have decided to stick within the same guidelines as the original, Captain America: The First Avenger, in order for this film to also be classified at a 12A too. I think that this was done as a way to ensure that they did not limit their audiences. The first movie was a success with a gross of $176,636,816 with this classification, therefore by having another film with the same certificate means that they can use similar marketing strategies as they previously had done to attract the same mass audience as well as try to use new ones to target their wider audience. The trailer is appropriate for this certificate as it does not emphasise on the violence, but instead focuses on the aesthetics by using lots of medium shots and quick edits to create a sense of speed and excitement for the audience to engage with the scenes without making them feel sick at the sight of too much blood and gore. Having watched the trailer the conventions reflect the same characteristics as those that appeared in the marvel comics. An example of this is when we see Captain America (CA) continuing to try and keep the public safe and out of trouble in the same way that his character does in the comics. For those who watched the original film/have seen the trailer or have read or seen any of the comics they would expect to see a lot of guns and fighting scenes and violence throughout this movie. So the producer would have to take this into account as by having a film without the violent scenes and without the similar characteristics to the comic would mean that it wouldn’t be what the public are expecting and could have an affect on their gross. Therefore the film would need to be classified at a 12A rating in order to be the correct certificate if the film intends on including lots of action and long fighting sequences as expected by its current and future target audience. The fact that lots of fight scenes will be apparent would mean that this would be a selling point for the young male audience as generally when boys are about 10 and upwards they like to regularly ‘play fight’ and redo fight scenes taken from shows such as ‘WWE’ and ‘Kim Possible’ so they tend to be the people who are most interested in this type of film. Saying that I don’t think the moves shown in the trailer could be easily mimicked, though I doubt this would affect the imagination of the youthful males. I think this film has a wider audience and isnt solely aimed at young boys. I would say that it is aimed at young girls too because of the attractive, Black Widow (BW) character who works with CA to save the day. I believe that their audiences are subjected between a link to how potential audiences can identify with the Blumler and Katz Theory. For this I would say that the reason why this film also targets young girls is because BW is a character that young girls would look up to and want to be like because she appears as someone who is cool and sexy. Whereas young boys would also want to come along to see the film because of her beauty too. In the Webster's World Dictionary, Second Edition, one can find the definition of fluoridation as the act of adding fluorides to a water supply to reduce the incidence of tooth decay. Many cities have been adding fluorides to their communities' drinking water. There have been well documented scientifically verified negative side-effects from exposure to fluoride. There is little evidence that fluoridation causes much damage to our bodies. Several studies have found that fluoride inhibits broken bone healing, and contributes to damage from osteoporosis and abnormal collagen formation. Increased hip fractures and osteosclerosis are scientifically associated with water fluoridation. The latest research from France on the hip frature issue that, The risk of hip frature was significantly higher when fluorine concentration was higher than 0.11 mg/L. Girls 15-16 years of age had premature aging of the bones as well as the hardening of the inter osseous membranes, and irregular bone formation. Studies hve confimred a dramatic increase in bone cancer in young males exposed to fluoride during growth of the bones, and a 5% increase in all types of cancers in fluoridated communities. A graph by the Health Department from 1930-1990 has shown that there was a decline in cavities prior to fluoridation. Even after fluoridation, the rate of decline was approximately the same. If fluoride was effective, there should havebeen a very noticeable drop in the cavity rate. So there was a 35 year decline of children's cavities without fluoride.
